beE is an idea competition for high school students. Our mission is to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit within the youth, encouraging them to conceive, cooperate, and bring fresh, innovative concepts to life.
Teams of talented students supported by brilliant teachers and tutored by I2C mentors will compete in a business idea challenge to win cash and prizes.

The 2023 beE is open to all high school students in Alabama. We welcome applications from teams of high school students, whether they come from the same school or different schools, as long as two conditions are met: 1) all team members are in high school, and 2) the team has a sponsor.

This year's beE will be conducted 100% online. So no more bus rides, crazy logistics, and long waits! Simply apply, get shortlisted and participate online in the Grand Finale in the comfort of your classroom or home!
In 2019, we introduced our beE curriculum to support teachers as they prepare their teams. The curriculum has been designed by Dr. Valentina Iscaro, who received her Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli (Italy). Dr. Iscaro has served as a Research Scholar at the Wharton School of Business’ Sol C. Snider Entrepreneurial Research Center and currently teaches at UAH and Alabama A&M. As always, we will continue to have mentoring made available to student teams over the entire period leading up to the Grand Finale.

Your team will have access to beE assigned mentors during your preperation phase.
The goal of mentoring is to help your team with the ideation and pitch presentation. You learn, you adapt, you prepare, you present, you WIN!

The Grand Finale event takes place online via Zoom on December 7th, 2023.
Your team will give a 7-minute presentation in PowerPoint / Keynote / Google Slides format to a panel of judges who will ultimately decide the winning teams.

1. What is beE [beEntrepreneurial]?
beE is a business idea competition for high school students.
2. Who can participate?
Any high school student team can submit an idea and compete. Home-schooled high school students are eligible to apply as well. A team must have a minimum of two (2) high-school students to qualify.
3. Do I need to pay to participate?
The event is free.
4. What if I do not have a team?
If you do not have a team but want to compete, please contact the beE sponsor in your school. They will help you find a team. If you are home-schooled, please contact us at i2c@uah.edu to discuss further.
5. Who is a beE school sponsor and how can I identify a sponsor for my school?
The beE school sponsor is a person (teacher or another school representative) who works closely with the beE staff and is your point of contact for inquiries related to the competition. Ask your teachers or write us to know who is the sponsor in your school. If home-schooled, your sponsor can be your parent, guardian or home-school teacher.
6. Can a team consist of high school students from different schools?
Yes. You are free to form a team with high school students from different schools as long as you have a sponsor. A sponsor can be a teacher or a school representative, parent or guardian of one or more members on your team.
7. How do I prepare for the judging round? What are the deliverables?
We strongly encourage you to review the beE Participant's Guide for details on what judges will be looking for. You will be required to prepare a PowerPoint / Keynote / Google Slides presentation. Your team will be given 7-minutes to present your idea. This will be followed by a 3-minutes Q/A session by the judges. A sample PowerPoint Pitch Template is available here. You are free to modify this to suit your needs. Be creative. Be bold. Use graphics (if needed). Make your presentation stand out.
8. Will my team have the opportunity to work with a beE Mentor?
Yes absolutely! We encourage teams to contact us for mentoring. It's a great way to enagage with an expert who can help you fine-tune your pitch and answer questions as needed.
9. How do we get access to the beE curriculum?
Teachers, parents or guardians can contact us for the beE curriculum. Upon request, we will provide the content files via email.
10. Who will be present during the Grand Finale?
Students, judges, mentors, and other invited guests.
11. Will the media be there?
UAH and I2C will be publicizing beE through social media channels. Participants will be required to sign a media release form. These forms can be downloaded here.
12. What can I win?
Cash from a $3,000 prize pool.
